“We are very sad about what has happened,” said the 24-year-old following the club’s sensational demotion.
“We didn’t go looking for it and we didn’t deserve it, but will roll up our sleeves and try to do our best. I am happy I stayed here, the club decided to bet on some of its players and that makes us feel more motivated,” added the Turin-born player.
Balzaretti believes that motivation is going to be a key factor this term if the club are going to achieve their objective of immediate promotion. “Who stays must be certain of the choice, those who didn’t feel that way did the right thing when they left, Serie B must be faced with the right mentality and attitude,” he argued.
“I don’t want to be a hypocrite and I confess I initially considered the option of leaving, but am now glad I didn’t do so. The group is our strength and we will reach great results.” |
