Berson has played only a handful of games since being signed by David OLeary two years ago and spent all of last season on loan at Auxerre and must now wait to see if his face fits with the new man at Villa Park.
He was one of the players OLeary had earmarked to sell to raise money for new players before parting company with the club a fortnight ago. Bersons agent Olivier Jounneaux said: "It is not an easy situation for Mathieu because this is his life. Knowing that, for the moment he might not play for the club but, at the same time, they do not want him to go is not a good situation. He has always done his best and never complained. Whenever he has played, he has played quite well and he has two years left on his contract." |
