The 23-year-old is not in Gordon Strachans plans at Celtic Park, but the Bhoys boss is taking his time responding to the Buddies bid.

MacPherson said: "He is still a Celtic player at the moment and we are still waiting to see what will happen. We have made an enquiry, but we are now into double figures in terms of the players weve enquired about."

Mulgrew, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Dundee United, is also believed to be a target for Aberdeen and Wolves.
