Metalurgs clinch Latvian Cup

After Metalurgs recent league win against Skonto had all but ended the title chances of Paul Ashworths team, Skonto looked to be on course for a revenge victory when Andrejs Štolcers scored from the penalty spot on 20 minutes. However Metalurgs, who are second in the championship – one point above Skonto – drew level in the 57th minute through Girts Karlsons header from a Genadijs Solonicins corner.

Solonicins served up the deciding goal too as the game dragged on into extra time, another of his corners being nodded in by substitute Kristaps Grebis in the 99th minute.
