Iran beat Iraq

The goals were scored by Persepolis’ Sheis Rezaei in the 26th minute and Mehdi Rajabzade who scored the second and final goal of the encounter 20 minutes from time.

Coach Amir Ghalenoiee fielded a domestic-based squad with the exception of Bolton Wanderers star Andranik Teymourian. Rezaei cut into the box to fire the opener before Rajabzade doubled the advantage with a powerful shot from just outside the area.

Iran play hosts Jordan in the final game tomorrow before leaving for Chinese Taipei for the October 11 AFC Asian Cup 2007 penultimate qualifier.
