Manchester United fielded a significanttly weaker team than usual. With Wayne Rooney missing through injury, Ferguson purposely rested Giggs, Larsson, Ferdinand and Scholes.
The players that did start were wasteful in front of goal with Saha, Ronaldo and Park all missing good chances. While stand-in goalkeeper Adam Federici produced fine saves from Ronaldo and substitute Larsson.
Feguson may of had an eye on next week's game against Lille.
Coppell himself made many seven changes whilst switching his formation to 4-5-1.
Coppell also criticised the press for saying that he had put out a weakened team stating that he fielded five internationals and Adam Federici who he believes will soon usurp Schwarzeer to get the Australia Number One shirt. |
