West Ham sign Parker

The former Charlton and Chelsea player has joined up with his old manager, Alan Curbishley on a five-year-deal.

Although the player recieved the captains armband last season from legen Alan Shearer he was always unhappy up North and wanted a move back to London.

Curbishly as had a long association with the player since he signed him as a schoolboy and is confident he can help him back into the England set-up. Parker made his England debut as a Charlton player before his £10 million move to Chelsea. In 2003 he was named PFA's Young Player of the Year but found his chances few and far between at the Bridge which spured his move to Newcastle in 2005 for £6.5 million.


Parker is believed to be the first signing of many this summer with an eye for European qualification next season.
