Just next season the scheme will inject £31.8 million into the lower ends of the game. Going into more detail the scheme breaks down the denominations: £5.4 million is to go into youth development, £4 million is to go into community projects, £11.2 million is to be split between the 50 lower leauge clubs with an extra £11.2 million for parachute payments possibly rising to double that.
Premier Leauge Chief Richard Scudamore said that tyhis deal was integral to the future prosperity of the game whilst Lord Mawhinny, Football Leauge Chairman, stated that this is a big step in the aim to narrow the gap between the two leauges. |
