Tottenham sign Boateng

The Central mid-fielder picked a move to England over a move to Spain with Sevilla making a serious offer for the 20-year-old.

Boateng is mooted as one of the best young players in the world at the moment. He is captain of German under-21's, has made 42 apperances for Hertha and was voted the most promising young player in Germany last year.

Boateng stated his main reason for joining Spurs over Sevilla is their onus on attacking football and the fact he believes that they will be challenging for trophies this year.

Spurs' squad is starting to look very strong after the signings of Gareth Bale, Darren Bent, Younes Kaboul and Abel Tarrabt.

Spurs manager Martin Jol believes that he will complement England Under-21 mid-fielder Tom Huddlestone perfectly.
