Barton charged with Dabo assault.

Now with Newcastle the alleged assault was at Manchester City's training ground. The midfielder recieved his charging after answering bail today. The 24-year-old England international was arrested in May for the alleged attack. He will face Trafford Magistrates Court on 9th August.

A spokesman for Barton says that he denies any wrong doing in the event. If Barton pleads not guilty he could be trialed and face a crown court with assault charges carrying a five-year prison sentence.
