Rangers have bolstered their squad by signing Karl Svensson from IFK Gothenburg on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
The 22 year-old, who is in Sweden’s squad for the World Cup finals, is seen as a replacement Greek defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos, who was freed by the Ibrox club at the end of the season.
Svensson is Rangers manager’s second major signing after the capture of Austria Vienna midfielder Libor Sionko.
Of his transfer to Rangers, Svensson said: “ Rangers are a very big club and I know a lot about them. We get Rangers v Celtic games on TV in Sweden, so I have already seen what it’s like at Ibrox.
“ I know that Jonas Thern and Joachim Bjorkland really enjoyed their time with Rangers and they did well when they were there. I know Henrik will be able to tell me all about Glasgow. I hear it’s a nice place to live and I know he liked it there.”
