Juve thrash Modena

Two goals by David Trezeguet and one each by Alessandro Del Piero and Pavel Nedved gave Juventus a 4-0 win over Modena in Serie B on Saturday.
The victory allowed the club to continue chipping away at the points penalty they incurred in the Serie A match-fixing scandal, taking them to minus seven points from four matches, 17 points behind leaders Brescia, who beat Verona 1-0.

Juventuss relegation to the second division led to an exodus of their top players, but those who remained were a class apart against a workmanlike Modena team at Turins Olympic Stadium. Trezeguet opened the scoring in the 38th minute, getting the final touch after Federico Balzaretti nodded on from a corner, before setting up Del Piero to grab Juves second goal on the break just before halftime.

The French international got his second goal midway through the second half, when he latched on to Marco Marchionnis pass and beat visiting keeper Giorgio Frezzolini from close range. Former European Footballer of the Year Nedved headed in from a free kick to complete the rout in the 73rd minute. In the other Serie B matches, Italys oldest club Genoa rose to second in the division on nine points with a 2-0 win over Piacenza. There was disappointment, however, for Napoli, who drew 1-1 with Triestina and now lie in midtable on five points.
