English League Two round up

Jamie Forrester struck yet another hat-trick as Coca-Cola League Two high-flyers Lincoln thrashed Rochdale to keep up the pressure on leaders Walsall. The second-placed Imps hammered hapless Dale 7-1 at Sincil Bank with Forrester hitting his second hat-trick in successive weekends and his third of the season. The glory was not all his, however, as Mark Stallard and Jeff Hughes each struck twice in a convincing victory. Rochdales goal came from Alan Goodall.

It was not enough to take Lincoln to the top as Walsall maintained their two-point advantage with a 2-1 win at Accrington Stanley. Mark Wright grabbed the winner for the Saddlers with just five minutes remaining after Ian Craney had appeared to secure a point for Stanley. Craney had cancelled out Hector Sams 40th-minute effort with an equaliser 12 minutes from time. Aaron Brown struck with just nine minutes remaining as Swindon kept up the pressure with a 2-1 win at Shrewsbury.

Ben Davies had given the Shrews hope of a point by cancelling out Fola Onibujes early opener but Brown had other ideas. MK Dons slipped up as Hereford left the National Hockey Stadium with a 3-1 win. Alan Connell, Robert Purdie - with a penalty - and Stuart Fleetwood, in the last minute, did the damage with the Dons goal coming from Izale McLeod. Wycombe remain well-placed in fourth after beating Peterborough 2-0 with second-half goals from Kevin Betsy and Jermaine Easter.

Bottom side Macclesfield, who continue to be linked with Paul Ince as a prospective new manager, claimed only their fifth point of the season with a goalless draw at Bristol Rovers. The Silkmen had to play the last 15 minutes with 10 men at the Memorial Ground after Danny Swailes was sent off. Junior Mendes and Jason Lee hit the target as Notts County won 2-0 at Grimsby, while Darlington beat Barnet by the same scoreline after Simon Johnson netted and Joe Devera scored an own goal.

Richard Barker struck twice and Danny Reet was also on the mark as Mansfield overcame Wrexham 3-0 and Adam Le Fondre clinched Stockports 1-0 success over Torquay. Glynn Hurst and Marc Pugh hit the goals as Bury beat Boston 2-1 despite Paul Tait giving the visitors late hope at Gigg Lane.
