West Brom beat Wolves

Tony Mowbrays reign as West Brom manager got off to a dream start as goals from Jonathan Greening, Diomansy Kamara and a John Hartson penalty sealed victory in the Black Country derby with Wolves. The Baggies fourth successive win in the Coca-Cola Championship moved them to within a point of Preston, who occupy the second automatic promotion spot.

Albion deserved their victory for their performance in the opening 45 minutes of the first meeting between the sides for five years. The hosts were superior in all departments during that period with Greening and Zoltan Gera impressing in the centre of the park and Martin Albrechtsen foraging down the right flank to good effect.

But Wolves were a transformed side after the interval with Rohan Ricketts a constant threat before Hartsons spot-kick gave a flattering outlook to the final scoreline.
