| French Ligue Un round up Surprise package Nancy climbed two spots up to fifth in Ligue 1 by beating Olympique Marseille 2-0 on Saturday.
Midfielder Benjamin Gavanon opened the scoring for home side Nancy from a free kick just before halftime and Brazilian forward Kim wrapped it up from inside the box on 71 minutes.
Easterners Nancy now have 29 points from 18 games, two more than Marseille, who drop a place to seventh.
Marseille sorely missed inspirational midfielder Franck Ribery, who was sidelined with a groin injury.
France striker Djibril Cisse started a match for the former European champions for the first time. The forward, who fractured his right leg in June, had made his Marseille debut as a substitute in a 2-1 win over Monaco last weekend.
Champions Olympique Lyon, who top the standings on 46 points, will on Sunday visit Racing Lens, who lie second 14 points back.
Lille were in third place on 30 points before visiting bottom club Sedan later on Saturday. |
