| Grip confirms Sven to Marseille rumours Sven-Goran Erikssons right-hand man Tord Grip has confirmed that the pair hope to take over at Marseille next summer.
The French club is reportedly the subject of a proposed takeover by a French-Canadian billionaire. If that deal is successful, the former England management team should be installed.
"It is true," a newspaper quotes Grip. "We are on our way. It should be completed by New Year."
Marseille are a traditional giant of French and European football, but have fallen way behind perennial title winners Lyon since the turn of the century.
"In France there is only one team that is really good at the moment and that is Lyon," Grip continued.
"But Marseille is a football town."
The former European champions are currently seventh in Ligue 1, a massive 22 points behind five-times domestic winners Lyon. |
