Konan rejected Charlton to move to Rosenborg

Didier Konan has revealed that Charlton Athletic were one of a number of clubs interested in signing him before he joined Rosenborg.

The Ivory Coast international was presented to the media on Wednesday after signing a three-year deal with the Trondheim outfit.

As the 22-year-old is one of three nominees for this years African Player of the Year, other clubs were vying for his services.

Al-Ahly, Nantes and Charlton were all on his trail, according to the attacking midfielder.

Rosenborg scout Stig Torbjornsen has no doubts about Konans potential.

"Konan has got plenty of talent and many skills," he informed VG.

"Besides, he has already played with his countrys national team. Hes a typical number 10 - aggressive, creative and who scores often. We would like him to become just as good as the players in Arsenal or Chelsea."
