| Lee would let Anelka leave Bolton Wanderers manager Sammy Lee has revealed he wouldn't stand in Nicolas Anelka's way should a Champions League club come in for the France striker.
Anelka joined the Trotters last year in an £8million transfer from Turkish side Fenerbache, but has been continually linked with an exit this summer.
Arsene Wenger has already denied reported interest in re-signing the former Arsenal striker, but a host of leading clubs - including French champions Lyon - are believed to still be in the hunt for the well-travelled striker.
The 28-year-old scored 11 times in the Premier League last season and Lee has revealed he would be willing to let Anelka leave the Reebok Stadium if a club in Europe's premier competition made an approach.
"I have to be fair to the boy," said Lee. "He is 28 and he has told me he wants Champions League football.
"So would I and I would like us both to achieve that here at Bolton.
"But, if one of the top four in England, or a Champions League club in another country, showed an interest in him, and he wanted to go, it would be remiss of me to stand in his way.
"I am not in the business of getting rid of our best players but I have to be fair to everybody. If the deal was fair to all parties, I would not stop him." |
