| Myhre quits Valerenga Petter Myhre has resigned as coach of Vålerenga IF after the UEFA Cup contenders crashed out of the Norwegian Cup.
Myhre has quit following the Oslo club's humiliating defeat by 2nd division Nybergsund IL Thursday. "I felt I had nothing left to give to the job," he said.
"I hope the players can lift themselves now." The coach had taken charge of Vålerenga last summer and led the team to 3rd place in Norway's top flight in 2006.
This season they are on course to reached the UEFA Cup 2nd qualifying round after a 1-0 1st-leg triumph against FC Flora in Estonia last weekend.
Myhre's assistant Harald Aabrekk was named caretaker coach. Vålerenga lie 11th in the 14-club Tippeligaen after 14 matches. |
