| Falcao: Roma Can Win The Double Former Brazil and Roma legend Paulo Roberto Falcao has heaped praise on Luciano Spalletti’s team and says they are capable of winning both the Scudetto and the Champions League this season.
The Giallorossi have been in scintillating form this season and have won all five competitive games, scoring 10 goals and conceding none. They were once again in impressive form last night in the Champions League, disposing of Dynamo Kiev 2-0 at the Stadio Olimpico.
“I'm convinced that Luciano Spalletti's team can be a contender in the race for the Scudetto and the conquest of the Champions League,” said Falcao.
"He has brought together a group of talented players. Sure, above all international level experience is crucial, but it is one characteristic that can only be acquired by playing at high levels and this is what Roma are now doing."
Falcao also offered his thoughts on last year’s European Golden Boot Winner Francesco Totti and new Brazilian signing Juan, who has settled in well since his move from Bayer Leverkusen.
"Totti is a born leader. His personality is one you have from birth, it is not acquired over time. Totti is a member of a small group of leaders, like Raul at Real Madrid,” Falcao added.
“The signing of Juan does not surprise me. He is a complete defender.”
Falcao played for the Giallorossi during their golden era in the early 1980s. He won one Scudetto in 1983 and reached the final of the European Cup a year later, where Roma lost on penalties to Liverpool. He is generally regarded as one of the best midfielders of all time and is perhaps most famous for a stunning goal against in Italy in the 1982 World Cup. |
