| England slump in Sri Lanka Sri Lanka 269-7 Innings Complete (D P M D Jayawardene 66) v England 150 (M F Maharoof 4-31). Sri Lanka beat England by 119 runs
England are still without a one-day win in Sri Lanka for 25 years after slumping to a humiliating 119-run defeat in the first ODI in Dambulla.
The hosts posted a respectable 269-7 on a surface which posed problems for batsmen - the average score on this ground in one-dayers was 198 coming into this match.
But after a brief flurry from Phil Mustard on debut, wickets fell steadily, the run rate rose rapidly and Sri Lanka had little trouble closing out a seventh straight win over England.
That miserable run includes a 5-0 whitewash on home soil in 2006 and after this facile victory, Sri Lanka will be eyeing a repeat. POM Inger-land, Inger-land, Inger-land ...
