Seongnam Ilhwa rallies to earn 2-2 draw in Asian Champions League semi-finals

Kim Do-heon scored a late equalizer Wednesday to give Seongnam Ilhwa a 2-2 draw with the Urawa Reds in the first leg of the Asian Champions League semifinals.

Kim forced the ball home in the 81st minute after Urawa goalkeeper Ryota Tsuzuki blocked a shot from Mota.

Seongnam took the lead in the 11th when Brazilian striker Itamar broke from midfield and laid the ball off to Mota, who put a shot over the goalkeeper for his seventh goal of the competition.

Urawa drew level in the 53rd when unmarked Tatsuya Tanaka headed in a cross from Robson Ponte. The J-League leaders then went ahead in the 65th when Ponte converted from the penalty spot after Kim Dong-hyun fouled Washington in the area.

The second leg is scheduled for Oct. 24 in Japan.
