| they were the most successful, based on statistics, but who was the best team overall is an argument that you can't base purely on who won the most trophies. records will always be broken, but that doesn't mean one the player who came along later on and scored more goals is a better player, it just means they scored more goals.
it's like comparing a Spitfire to a modern jet fighter. it doesn't matter that the Spitfire can't fly as fast or as high as a jet fighter, or that it doesn't have laser-guided missiles and stealth technology, it's still the greatest fighter plane of all time because of what it did, when it did it and how it did it. it's an icon. it's a legend.
Christiano Ronaldo isn't an icon yet, and he's not a legend. he hasn't achieved the heights yet. i'm undecided on who is the best player in the world right now, but it's not Ronaldo. not yet anyway. |
