vCash: 500 | Will there ever be a European Super League? "The futre belongs to the great clubs as AC Milan, Real Madrid and Barcelona all of them playing at least eighty games a season". A European Cup that last the whole season is what European wants. After all Europe wanted an economic community with monetary union and a customs union. It's inevitbale it should want a football union, too". The formation of such an 'elite' league would be worth vast sums of money to those competing and Berlusconi, has already pinpointed the biggest source of income for such an adventure, television and in aprticular subscrpition TV. quote: Silvio Berlusconi 1991 Last edited by Stevens : 05-31-2007 at 05:11 PM. |

A European super League is when all teams play in a type of format used by the Premiership. i.e. just league (no knock-out). | |

vCash: 500 | i don't think there will cause UEFA will want clubs outside the elite to have a chance to get into the champo league. some teams like west ham are getting bigger budgets than liverpool and arsenal but the only half-serious competitor for the top four in the prem is tottenham. Though it would be wuite interesting as it would really show the best team in Europe. |

vCash: 379 | I don't think a European super league would ever happen simply because it wouldn't be of benefit financially to the big clubs. The English, Spanish, Italian & German giants are far better off in their own domestic leagues & playing in the CL . Clubs that may benefit from a European league are the big fish in small ponds such as the Old Firm in Scotland , Porto , Benfica & Sporting from Portugal , Ajax, PSV from Holland maybe Lyon & Marseille from France , Anderlecht from Belgium etc. All the above are teams whose finances are restricted by the leagues they play in , but lets face it if they formed a european league it would be a second rate competition. |
