vCash: 500 | Worthington sacked after 4-1 loss to Bunley Norwich City manager Nigel Worthington has been sacked following their 4-1 defeat by Burnley on Sunday. That result left the Canaries in 17th place in the Championship after a run of four defeats and one draw from their last five league fixtures. Worthington had been in charge at Carrow Road since December 2000 and led City into the Premiership in 2004, but they were relegated the following year. First-team coach Martin Hunter has taken over as caretaker boss. Joint majority shareholders Delia Smith and husband Michael Wynn Jones had hit out at the players' lack of passion following last week's 3-1 defeat by Plymouth - insisting they "expected the situation to be rectified" over the next two games. We all took the plaudits when things were going well, and I'll take the bullets when it is not going well Worthington, before his departure However, Worthington, who has also managed Blackpool, only lasted one more game before being relieved of his duties. Norwich chairman Roger Munby told the Canaries' website: "The board would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Nigel for all that he has done for the club in his time as manager. "The search for a new Norwich City manager will start immediately." Speaking after the game before learning of his dismissal, he said: "I am a loyal person. I have been manager of this football club for six years when it has been absolutely tremendous. "But my team will live to fight another day and I intend to live to fight another day as well. "We all took the plaudits when things were going well, and I'll take the bullets when it is not going well." Clarets boss Steve Cotterill added: "Nigel has done a terrific job at Norwich, and he is a good man. "It wasn't nice to hear the things that were being said - but until you've been in the shoes of somebody getting that treatment, you don't know how it feels. "People will say we were playing Norwich at a good time but I wouldn't agree with that at all." |

vCash: 500 | They have had a shocking start but I would have expected the board to be a little more patient. Do Norwich have promotion hopes this season? |

vCash: 500 | They would certainly need a superhuman effort to try and get promotion now. A play off place is probably the best they can hope for. |
