vCash: 480 | English League One round up Two goals from Kris Commons enabled Nottingham Forest to move seven points clear at the top of Coca-Cola League One. Commons efforts - in the 10th and 37th minutes - saw off Brentford in front of a crowd of more than 18,000 at the City Ground. Yeovil moved up to second, coming off best in a West Country derby with Bristol City which livened up in the closing stages. Citys Louis Carey and Yeovils Scott Guyett were sent off for violent conduct just before half-time. Arron Davies gave the Glovers a 78th-minute lead and Wayne Gray made the points safe in injury-time, with Phil Jevons penalty soon after little consolation for the visitors - who slip to fourth from second. Scunthorpe remain third - Andy Booths 86th-minute goal for Huddersfield denying Iron a victory after Matt Sparrow had netted in the 55th minute. Oldham won 2-1 at struggling Cheltenham with goals from Paul Warne (23) and Gary McDonald (41) - Kayode Odejayi replying for the second bottom hosts in the last minute. Late goals gave promotion hopefuls Gillingham and Crewe 2-1 home wins - at the expense of Chesterfield and Port Vale respectively. The Spireites led going into injury-time at Priestfield thanks to Mark Hughes 39th-minute effort - but ended up losing as goals from Gary Mulligan and Dean McDonald spectacularly turned things round. Vale led at Gresty Road through Nicky Maynards 32nd-minute effort but George Abbey levelled four minutes later and Luke Rodgers kept calm from the spot in injury-time to seal the home comeback. Bradford came from two goals behind to level against Brighton - but conceded a late goal to continue a miserable recent run of form. Alex Revell (13) and Dean Hammonds 44th-minute penalty gave Brighton a 2-0 lead - but Dean Windass pulled a goal back from the spot (56) with his 200th career goal. Steven Schumacher appeared to have earned a draw for the Bantams in the 80th minute - but Dean Bowditchs 89th-minute goal subjected them to a 3-2 defeat - their third successive loss. Carlisle and Rotherham drew 1-1 at Brunton Park, with Kevin Grays 64th-minute goal for the Cumbrians cancelling out Delroy Faceys 21st-minute volley. It was the same score at Sixfields, where mid-table Northampton and Blackpool shared the points - Andy Morrell (20) netting for the visitors before Eoin Jess (62) replied. Leyton Orient continue to prop up the table - although they are only a point adrift after a goalless draw at Doncaster. |
