vCash: 500 | Palace issue writ against Dowie Crystal Palace have taken legal action against former manager Ian Dowie, who was unveiled today as the new Charlton manager. Eagles chairman Simon Jordan has responded to the appointment by issuing a writ against the 41-year-old former Northern Ireland striker, accusing him of “fraudulently” obtaining a release from a £1m compensation clause in his contract. The Palace chairman said: “ He told me he wanted to go back to the north to be with his family. “ My club waived compensation because he wanted to return north.” The writ, while unable to prevent Dowie becoming Charlton manager, may be one way to claw back the compensation Palace would have received had Jordan not waived the clause. However, Dowie has denied any wrong doing, insisting that he had no contact with Charlton, prior to his resignation from Palace. Jordan, however, feels Dowie has a case to answer. He added: “ I released him from a £1m compensation clause because he said he wasn’t going to do what he’s done. “ I’ll prove it to the High Court. I would not issue a writ on a point of principle, they’re expensive, I issue it on a point of law.” |

vCash: 0 | This is going to be extremely interesting! Jordan is quite within his rights, although I think he's a little naive to say it's not on a point of principle. I think professional pride is playing a large part here. Not that I blame him in the slightest. It will be interesting to see what proof he has, as Dowie is denying there was a contract. |

vCash: 500 | this really is one for the courts. i believe Dowie when he says there was no contact from Charlton prior to his resignation, however, Jordan has every right to claim the compensation Palace are due, after all, he only waived that clause coz Dowie said he wanted to relocate up north. p.s how much closer to the North is the Valley compared with Selhurst Park? Didnae get very far did you Ian? Take him to the cleaners Simon ![]() |

He was out of contract and he signed on as manager at Charlton, Jordan doesn't have a leg to stand on. He waived all rights the minute he ripped up Dowies contract.

a) the reason for his contract termination was due to family releated reasons b) he wants a job nearer his family home. Yes charlton is 6 miles close to home but the point is his contract was terminated due to reason a by far means as family come first in life and Jordon did NOT want to stop Iain rasing his kids as he allegedly stated to Jordon. If one week later he turns up as Charlton manager and Dowie has indeed given the reason he wants to be closer to his family as a way to get out of his contract then yes sir he has broken terms on the temmination of his contract of which he discussed with Jordon at the time. Therefore Jordon is within his full right to sue Iain Dowie for the £1 million pound which would have been paid if Charlton came in for Iain Dowie. Therefore i hasten to say Jordon is not a prick...yes alot of people dont like him but he stands up for what is right in football. Not what football is now. As it stands we can look at the Italin league and see how fucked up it is. Thats the way this league is going if we dont sort out or ideas. Yes there is no longer loyality in football. Yes it seems money rules the world. Time for some wage cappign and some sense to come back in the game before there are only 2 teams left in the world that can actually afford to compete with each other. Anyway enough said!!!

![]() Im not a media whore and im not fond of the media "sticking" with the big guns so too speak thats if you want to call Charlton big. But the english game needs to have some moral and standards if it is to survive. Yes if Jordon wins then hopefully it will make managers think twice and if we lose our club maybe a laughing stock but at least we have a chairman possonate about the club, about the game and about the future of football. The way football is going what will football be in 20 years time. It will be a game for the rich were normal everday people like us wont be able to afford it and all lower league clubs go bankrupt. The english game should bare togetherness and contracts worth the paper they are written upon. As if we dont soon it will be 4 clubs (we all know who tey are) that are the only real clubs who can compete. I sir dread the day it happens. Hopefully the FA will wake up before its too late. And if Dowie has indeed left by lying i hope he gets whats coming to him ex-palace manager or not.
