vCash: 480 | Three-game ban for Brunt Chris Brunt must serve a three-match ban after Sheffield Wednesday lost their appeal against the red card he was shown against FC Groningen. The 21-year-old winger was dismissed after a rash challenge in the 1-1 draw during the Owls' pre-season tour of Holland, but the club had hoped the three-game suspension would be rescinded by the FA. However, a FA Disciplinary Committee upheld the referee's decision and the Northern Ireland international will now miss the Carling Cup tie at Rotherham and league encounters with Wolves and Charlton. Meanwhile, the Yorkshire outfit remain hopeful that Deon Burton will be able to serve his suspension in non-first team games following his dismissal against Heerenveen for foul and abusive language. |
