Hijack This & a couple of Downloads

For those who dont know about Hijack This get to know ASAP

Forget your pc security protection such as

ANTI VIRUS SCANNER - SPYWARE SCANNER - TROJAN SCANNER - FIRE WALL ETC

You may ask yourself or think that the above is doin its job but really it isnt - Ok it might get rid of infections but the sooner there deleted the sooner there back renamin them selfs and hidin on the pc makin them selfs look legit in the next scan <--- typical back door trojan horse

I had alsorts of pc security on my pc and thought i was protected from everythin - how i was so wrong - i started to get blue screen error's, freezes, windows report errors, etc etc - i started to download more protection thinkin it would solve the problem - it didn tho - i then dedcided to look up on Hijack This, its a program that scans your pc from the top to the bottom and then creates a log off all your system progs & the very important runnin proccesors that need to be 100% workin and in good order to obtain maximum peformance from your pc - the log found i had 23 infections & over 678 bits of spyware - 234 bits of adware & the cool web search virus picked up from usin internet explorer.

I couldnt believe it as i had top security protectin me and i thought i was ok - just go's to show what you dont no what is livin inside your pc - i advise you all to to use Hijack his if you are havin problems or the pc is playin up or just to be curious and achally look whats there and shouldnt be - You can fix it there and then and it dosnt cost a penny - pc world use this program when you take it for a check up and end up payin a bomb when you can do it yourself for free and in minutes - like i said you make think your safe but believe me your not - Hijack This will wipe away the nasty infections and make a huge difference to your pc - ever get 'about blank' in your toolbar http? pop ups? dialers? if so this is due to hijackers changin your home page settins they are in complete charge of your pc and theres nothin you can do about it with the help of Hijack This - These infections are caused through usin internet explorer whatever you do do not use it its full of spyware and other nasty infections - download firefox explorer and use that as your default.

Ok for those who want to check there pc for hiden nasties you must download Hijack this first

http://majorgeeks.com/HijackThis_d3155.html

Ok now do the followin

1 - OPEN THE PROG

2 - SELECT SCAN AND SAVE LOG

3 - WHEN THE LOG IS READY COPY IT

Now go here to check your log

http://hijackthis.de/index.php

1 - PASTE THE LOG IN THE WHITE BOX AND PRESS PROCEED.

2 - LOOK OVER THE LOG AND IT WILL TELL YOU WHAT ENTRIES ARE INFECTED - WRITE THEM DOWN!!

3 - OPEN HIJACK THIS AGAIN

4 - PRESS SCAN ONLY

5 - TICK THE BOXES BY THE INFECTED FILES

6 - PRESS FIX - RESTART PC

Thats that - your pc will be clean and infectious free - do this at least once a month!!!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok here are some useful progs that will also boost your pc's performance and keep it runnin in top condition

www.hitmanpro.nl - Top of the tree spyware protection - 1 prog = 4 scanners - cws scanner - reg cleaner & more

www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ - Excellent program - this prog cleans the temp files and cookies also cleans away the tail end of malware infections - use this program every time you finish usin the net.

Do all the followin steps and your pc will be runnin like Linford Christie instead of Rick Woller.

Your be suprised just what you will find on your Pc Dan. Do the followin steps in my previous post and then Download the spyware prog and Ccleaner.

To be honest with you mate after the last poor prog Microsoft made ie ----> Ms Anti Spyware the adware isnt much better - after all its Microsoft who put the spyare/adware on your pc in the 1st place through usin Internet Explorer - ditch Internet Explorer and download Firefox its much safer and is by far a better browser - Tip for you mate dont touch Microsoft spyware/adware progs with a barge pole. www.hitmanpro.nl is all you will ever need

Thanks for the information. I do already use Firefox as well its brilliant just like the fact you can theme it yourself add things to it to make it more personal to you. Also tabbed browsing is a wonderful thing

I will look into hitmanpro aswell then as with every pc on the net today it needs something to protect it

Also do the followin tips @ some stage to keep your pc in good health.

Here are 3 ways to keep your pc tip top and runnin smoothly.

1: Free Up Disk Space

By freeing disk space, you can improve the performance of your computer. The Disk Cleanup tool helps you free up space on your hard disk. The utility identifies files that you can safely delete, and then enables you to choose whether you want to delete some or all of the identified files.

Use Disk Cleanup to:

Remove temporary Internet files.

Remove downloaded program files (such as Microsoft ActiveX controls and Java applets).

Empty the Recycle Bin.

Remove Windows temporary files.

Remove optional Windows components that you don't use.

Remove installed programs that you no longer use.

Tip: Typically, temporary Internet files take the most amount of space because the browser caches each page you visit for faster access later.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

T o use Disk Cleanup:

1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Disk Cleanup. If several drives are available, you might be prompted to specify which drive you want to clean.

Disk Cleanup calculates the amount of space you will be able to free.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. In the Disk Cleanup for dialog box, scroll through the content of the Files to delete list.

Choose the files that you want to delete.

------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------

3. Clear the check boxes for files that you don't want to delete, and then click OK.

4. When prompted to confirm that you want to delete the specified files, click Yes.

After a few minutes, the process completes and the Disk Cleanup dialog box closes, leaving your computer cleaner and performing better.

------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------

2: Speed Up Access to Data

Disk fragmentation slows the overall performance of your system. When files are fragmented, the computer must search the hard disk when the file is opened to piece it back together. The response time can be significantly longer.

Disk Defragmenter is a Windows utility that consolidates fragmented files and folders on your computer's hard disk so that each occupies a single space on the disk. With your files stored neatly end-to-end, without fragmentation, reading and writing to the disk speeds up.

When to Run Disk Defragmenter

In addition to running Disk Defragmenter at regular intervals, optimally monthly, certain events warrant running the utility outside of the monthly rule of thumb.

You should run Disk Defragmenter under the following circumstances:

¿ You add a large number of files.

¿ Your free disk space nears 15 percent.

¿ You install new programs or a new version of Windows.

To use Disk Defragmenter:

1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Disk Defragmenter.

Click Analyze to start the Disk Defragmenter

---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----

2. In the Disk Defragmenter dialog box, click the drives that you want to defragment, and then click the Analyze button.

After the disk is analyzed, a dialog box appears, letting you know whether you should defragment the analyzed drives.

Tip: You should analyze a volume before defragmenting it to get an estimate of how long the defragmentation process will take.

3. To defragment the selected drive or drives, click the Defragment button.

After the defragmentation is complete, Disk Defragmenter displays the results.

4. To display detailed information about the defragmented disk or partition, click View Report.

5. To close the View Report dialog box, click Close.

6. To close the Disk Defragmenter utility, click the Close button on the title bar of the window.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3: Detect and Repair Disk Errors

In addition to running Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter to optimize the performance of your computer, you can check the integrity of the files stored on your hard disk by running the Error Checking utility.

As you use your hard drive, it can develop bad sectors. Bad sectors slow down hard disk performance and sometimes make data writing (such as file saving) difficult, or even impossible. The Error Checking utility scans the hard drive for bad sectors, and scans for file system errors to see whether certain files or folders are misplaced.

If you use your computer daily, you should try to run this utility weekly to help prevent data loss.

To run the Error Checking utility:

Important: Be sure to close all files before running the Error-Checking utility.

1. Click Start, and then click My Computer.

2. In the My Computer window, right-click the hard disk you want to search for bad sectors, and then click Properties.

3. In the Properties dialog box, click the Tools tab.

4. Click the Check Now button.

5. In the Check Disk dialog box, select the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box, and then click Start.

In most circumstances, select Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6. If bad sectors are found, choose to fix them.

Tip: Only select the Automatically fix file system errors check box if you think that your disk contains bad sectors.
