Lazio to bid for Makinwa

Lazio are ready to launch a bid to sign Nigerian striker Stephen Makinwa from Palermo, reports in Rome insist.

The forward has been linked with the capital club for some time and a move may now occur following the capital club’s return to Serie A which is news to me because I never knew they went down.

Lazio are allegedly willing to offer £2.5m to net the attacker in a co-ownership deal with the Sicilian giants.

Palermo are ready to do business even if newly promoted Torino are also understood to be keen on the youngster.

However, the Biancocelesti are seemingly in pole position to sign given the presence of boss Delio Rossi in Rome.

It was under Rossi at Atalanta where Makinwa really caught the eye with six goals in 17 games during his six-month loan spell in 2005.

Makinwa, born in 1983, has also played for Como, Reggiana, Modena and Genoa during his Italian stint.

Sounds abit of a Jeffers
