Bayern say opponents stifle their attacking flair

Bayern Munich coach Felix Magath said he would like his team to play a more open, attacking style than in the past but feared it would not be possible because so many other teams are committed to spoiling tactics.

"We want to play a more attractive style - the players, the coach and the board all want that," Magath said in an interview published on Wednesday in the Passauer Neue Presse newspaper.

"The wish for a more attractive style is justified but it cannot be achieved because we play against teams that pack their defence and because the pitch conditions, for instance in January and February, do not allow it. No reasonable person can expect Bayern Munich to play a great match under such conditions."

Brazil manage to play that way, even against teams that play nothing but defence against them.

i know how he feels, if the other teams in our groups hadn't been so good, Scotland might have won the World Cup about three times by now!
