Spanish Primera Liga round up

Leaders Sevilla were held to a goalless draw at Racing Santander and missed the chance to pull clear at the top of the Primera Liga on Sunday.

The UEFA Cup holders were second best throughout the match, with goalkeeper Andres Palop by far their busiest player as he managed to keep Serbian striker Nikola Zigic and the mercurial Pedro Munitis at bay.

Sevilla have 22 points, two ahead of Barcelona who take on third-placed Real Zaragoza at the Nou Camp later on Sunday.

Getafe are level on 19 points with Zaragoza but fourth on goal difference after midfielder Nacho pounced on an error from Real Mallorca goalkeeper Toni Prats to give Bernd Schusters side a 1-0 win.

Valencia are fifth with 18 points after Saturdays 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao but could be overtaken by Real Madrid who play Osasuna in Pamplona later on Sunday.

In the days other games, Capi scored a last-gasp winner for Real Betis in their 2-1 win at home over Levante and Recreativo Huelva beat an out-of-sorts Celta Vigo 2-1 away.

Basement side Real Sociedad drew 1-1 with Espanyol while the team above them, Gimnastic, ended a run of seven straight defeats in the league and cup to draw 0-0 with Deportivo Coruna.

Barcelona are back on top after a 3-1 win at home against Zaragoza though Lionel Messi limped out of the game with a suspected broken foot.
Ruud van Nistelrooy scored all 4 goals as Real Madrid ran out 4-1 winners against Osasuna to move onto third.
1st Barcelona 23 pts, 2nd Sevilla 22, 3rd Real Madrid 20.
