vCash: 480 | Feyenoord rebuff 50million Euro buy-out Dutch soccer club Feyenoord have declined a 50 million euro ($66.5 million) bid, their interim financial manager Peter Vogelzang told a Dutch newspaper on Friday. 'We thought is was too little,' Vogelzang was quoted as saying in daily Algemeen Dagblad, adding that he values the club at 150-200 million euros. 'Perhaps they had the impression that there was no way out for us,' Vogelzang said, without naming any of the interested parties. 'They (the investors) wanted return and control. Our strategy is that Feyenoord remains a club of the people, without a dominant shareholder.' He said the club has now found a group of financially powerful people that enabled it to invest. Feyenoord named Bert van Marwijk as coach on Thursday to replace Erwin Koeman, who resigned last month after they finished seventh in the Dutch league. The 55-year-old will embark on his second spell at Feyenoord, whom he coached between 2000 and 2004, steering them to their 2002 UEFA Cup victory. |
