Question Pessotto suicide bid?

Quote:

" Former Italian and Juventus star Gianluca Pessotto is in a serious condition in hospital.

He fell from a window at Juventus' club headquarters, the club's press office confirmed.

"We don't know how this has happened. We'll see," Juventus chief press officer Marco Girotto told Gazzetta Dello Sport.

"Gianluca reportedly has multiple fractures but they are not life threatening."

Pessotto is currently Juventus' team manager - a role he took up almost exactly a month ago after he quit his playing career.

The former defender spent 11 years with The Old Lady after joining the club in 1995.

During his time with the club he won six Serie A titles and the UEFA Champions League.

Former Juventus team-mates Alessandro Del Piero and Gianluca Zambrotta have flown home from the World Cup in Italy to visit Pessotto."

Shocker this one. Any link to the fact that Juve are subject to an investigation into match fixing in Serie A?

Hope he recovers and sorts out what ever Demons aer troubling him.

Italy players Alessandro del Piero and Gianluca Zambrotta have left the team's World Cup camp in Germany to visit Juventus colleague Gianluca Pessotto.
Juventus sporting director Pessotto is seriously ill in hospital after falling from a window at club headquarters.

Del Piero and Zambrotta were joined on a private flight by ex-Juve player Ciro Ferrara, one of Italy's coaching staff.

Pessotto, 35, a former Juventus midfielder, is not implicated in the Italian match-fixing scandal.

Del Piero, Zambrotta and Ferrara spent more than an hour at his hospital bedside and were due to return to Italy's World Cup camp later on Wednesday.

Italy captain and Juventus defender Fabio Cannavaro walked out of a media conference at the training camp when he heard about Pessotto's fall.

"I'm devastated. Pessotto was the nicest guy in the world," said Cannavaro.

Pessotto was appointed Juve's sports director in May after 11 years as a player, during which he won 22 caps for Italy.

Juventus, along with AC Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina, are due to face a sports tribunal over the match-fixing scandal.

Police investigate the fall at the Juventus club offices in Turin
Pessotto's wife Reana said he was unhappy with his role at the club and had been suffering from depression.

"He kept telling me that there was too much difference between being on the field and behind a desk," she said.

Pessotto was taken to a Turin hospital on Tuesday with multiple fractures after falling an estimated 15 metres from a second-storey window. He was reported to have been clutching a set of rosary beads.

A Turin hospital official speaking on Sky Italia television said police were investigating a suicide attempt.

A Juventus spokesman said: "Gianluca suffered multiple fractures, but his life is not in danger."

Italy play Ukraine in the quarter-finals on Friday.
Good to have friends at this point in his life.

This is shocking, he was still a player when most of these allegations were taking place. I hope he pulls through.

It has been reported that he has taken a turn for the worse. I do hope he improves.

My hope for the final is Italy, even after all the scandals and match fixing the players have risen above it to show their passion and skill.

I hope he recovers from this, I remember him as a player. Nothing spectacular but a great servant to his club and country [and to me in Pro Evo against the Jedi Knight].

As for the final, let the best team win but please please please play football and not try to get people sent off.
