vCash: 500 | Portsmouth Pull Out Petrov Deal Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that the club’s latest £5M bid for Celtic midfielder Stilian Petrov has been rejected by the Parkhead club. Petrov has submitted two transfer requests to Celtic which have both been refused and with Portsmouth now pulling out the race for his signature and no other suitors willing to pay the Scottish champions’ asking price it seems that this may prove to be a difficult season for the Bulgarian International midfielder. In an interview with the Scottish Sun newspaper Portsmouth boss Redknapp has said, “As far as I'm aware Celtic have turned down our £5 million bid but I think that's it over.” ''I couldn't honestly recommend to the club to pay any more for the boy. I have a high regard for Petrov's talent and I'd have been delighted to have signed him, but enough is enough. ''I believe we were the only club in for Petrov and I reckon Celtic might find it difficult getting better money that that.'' ___________________________________________ I am surpised by that, I thought that the £5M would be accepted. At least we are not letting our best players go on the cheap, but I do worry about his form if he stays. |
