Bolton have accepted a bid from Saudi Arabia club Al Ittihad for Mexico international striker Jared Borgetti. The 32-year-old made little impact in England and is expected to shortly discuss personal terms with Al Ittihad.

"I am hopeful the deal will be concluded this week. It hasnt worked out for Jared at Bolton," Trotters boss Sam Allardyce told the club website.

Allardyce also ended his interest in former Lecce defender Lorenzo Stovino, saying "he is not the player we need".

Bolton Wanderers striker Jared Borgetti has completed his move to Saudi Arabia side Al Ittihad.

The 34-year-old joined The Trotters last summer but failed to make an impression in his first season at The Reebok Stadium.

Borgetti was relatively unused by Sam Allardyce, with the majority of his appearances coming as a late substitute, and the Bolton boss decided the hit-man was no longer in his plans.

Spanish side Racing Santander were also keen on Borgetti's signing but having spent a week training with Al Ittihad, the former Pachuca star opted to pen a one-year deal with the Asian Champions League holders.

The Mexican international becomes Al Ittihad's second signing of the summer, following Slovenia international Milenko Acimovic in making the switch to Saudi Arabia.

Borgetti's departure is likely to signal the arrival of a new striker at Bolton, as Allardyce continues to search for a top goalscorer to add to his squad.
