vCash: 480 | Paper links Pompey with Kuranyi The 'links' are growing thick and fast now with the January sales just around the corner... the latest name thrown at us by The Mirror is Schalke striker Kevin Kuranyi. I am pretty sure that most of us know who he is, but he is an interesting fella. He was born in Brazil but his footballing career hopped between Brazil and Panama in his early youth before he went to Germany in his mid teens when he signed for Stuttgart. He apparently holds Brazilian, Panamanian and German citizenship, so there would be no problems with a work permit and with him being a German international he would not be off to the African nations - ever! Kuranyi has a strike rate of nearly a goal every other game for Schalke, a rate that was just as impressive with Stuttgart before them, but his record of 19 goals in 44 internationals for Germany is outstanding. The claims are that Ian Broomfield was sent by Harry Redknapp to watch him and he is viewed as 'an emergency arrival in the transfer window' - I am not sure what to make of this statement to be honest... I do know the fella is top class, but with Schalke playing in the champions league I would not be holding my breath that such an arrival will be happening in the New Year to be honest. |
