Anyone have any thoughts on the growing speculation linking Sol Campbell with Fenerbache?

Just heard that Fenerbache have confirmed they have approached Campbell with regards to move to Instanbul.

Don't think he'll be interested though. British players are notorious for failing to adapt to foreign cultures.

Does give him some bargaining power when it comes to deciding his future though.

He hasn't been at his best for some time though, so he might be grateful for any interest. Just can't see him rising above Snederos and Toure in the packing order at Arsenal, so might be time to move.

Can't see that happening for a couple reasons.

Can't afford him and English players are generally not warmly welcomed in that area.

Have to agree. Football reasons aside, you've highlighted one of the major reasosns for this transfer being nothing more than wishful thinking on Fenerbache's part.

He would end up a public hate figure for anything that went wrong in Instanbul. Christ, i could see the Turks trying to sacrafice HIM in the centre circle instead of a lamb, especially after a defeat ( although how much luck that would bring the team is debatable). If the local shop ran out of bread they'd want to hang him.

Add to the mix his colour and race ( not the most racially tolerant of countries in the world) and you have recipe for disaster
