Mourinho Admits Interest In Carlos

Jose Mourinho has stated that he feels Brazilian star Roberto Carlos would be a worthy addition to his Chelsea squad, even at the age of 33.

Carlos is still highly rated within the Bernabeu and only a substantial offer from Chelsea would see the defender make the switch from Spain to England.

Mourinho is thought to be ready to test the resolve of the Spanish giants by tabling an offer for the pacey full back.

However, with the additions of Ballack and Shenvchenko, who are both 29, the 33 year old Roberto Carlos would greatly increase the average age at Stamford Bridge.

However, the Chelsea boss is unconcerned about the age of his players, only that they are able to perform at the highest level.

"I'm not one of those who looks at identity cards," said Mourinho.

"I'm with those who think what's most important about a player is what he does for 90 minutes, regardless if he is 20, 30 or 40 years old.”

"Roberto is a mature player in fine condition, the best in his position.”

"It's possible Roberto will sign but I think we have to wait a little longer."

There is also rumours that Mourinho may also table another offer for Arsenal left back Ashley Cole after his initial bid was turned down last year. It is thought that Mourinho is ready to table a bid of around £20M to test Arsenal’s resolve.

Still can't see Cole moving to Chelsea, but money talks eh?

Carlos, ever get the feeling that he is fishing for a better deal at Real?

Cole has had a large falling out with Arsenal over a promised contract which never materialised. He may still bear a grudge.

Although I think there is more chance of cole to Madrid and Carlos to Chelsea with Cole moving to the Bridge within a few years.

All because the lady loves......
