Pennant For Liverpool

Reports from Anfield suggest that the club have made an offer of around £3.5 million for former Arsenal winger Jermaine Pennant.

Pennant, who was one of Birmingham’s best and most consistent performers last year, is only 23 and rated as a hot prospect for the future. Rafa Benitez has identified the young winger as ideal competition to new signing Mark Gonzalez.

Chilean Gonzalez is awaiting confirmation of his work permit which is expected to be given over the next few days.

Birmingham remain desperate to hang on to Pennant as they push for promotion back to the Premiership, but, they may have to do it without the services of Pennant.

He would be a good signing for Liverpool

I will be surprised if Liverpool are the only club chasing him.

He's the 2nd best young English winger behind Aaron Lennon.

He has had controversy and spent time in jail for a driving offence I think. Thats why Wenger let him go to Birmingham.

he may be talented but he's trouble. 23 and he still doesn't appreciate the skills and opportunity he has. another tortured genius? boo hoo. could be another Stan Collymore!!
Liverpool will be taking a chance on him , no doubt about it

I would like to see him at a top club - then we will know if he can handle the pressure.

I think that Benitez may be the man to help him.
