Red Devils bid for Michael Carrick

Media reports suggest Manchester United have made on offer around £10 million for Tottenham and England midfielder Michael Carrick.

Sir Alex Ferguson is still looking for a replacement for Roy Keane who left the club for boyhood heroes Celtic last season. Ferguson may have to improve his offer if he wants to capture one of Spurs’ prized assets, it is believed Tottenham rejected the bid immediately and indicated that they would have to double their offer for the England World Cup player.

Manchester United have also been linked with Joey Barton of rivals Manchester City Diarra of Lyon.

Just in nice time for a Scotsman to unsettle a English player who could make his World Cup debut for England. Interesting.

But he would make a great signing for Man Utd, they need to strengthen the midfield.

Spurs fans won't be happy.

Is Ferguson trying to upset the England camp and firing a warning shot across Sven's bow. The Rooney injury could be a factor for the timing of this bid.

Still Just what Man Utd need in midfield and at only 24 he would improve well under Ferguson.

I dont think this has anything to do with England/revenge on Sven. They have been after him a while. Yes it would have been nice if he waited two months.

However if Carrick was to sign then it would be a great signing for Manure.

A midfield of

Ronaldo --- Carrick --- Scholes --- Giggs

Is rather tasty. Espically as Carrick will drop back and Scholes will be given licence to bomb forwards.

Spurs have now responded with a rejection to Ferguson's offer, but I reckon he will be back with more.

But I thought Man U were skint, how much can they offer or how much is he worth?
