Cisse Set For Marseille Move

Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse has agreed to join Marseille on loan, despite being ruled out for at least five months through injury.

Cisse is under contract with Liverpool until 2009 but was set to be sold off by Rafael Benitez before he broke his right tibia in France's World Cup warm-up match against China.

After the extent of the injury was revealed, any move away from Anfield was deemed unlikely, but French daily L'Equipe understands the two clubs have agreed terms on a loan switch.

The 24-year-old striker, who scored 18 goals for Liverpool last season, has accepted a salary cut as part of the loan, the report said, adding that he has long wanted to play for Marseille.

Good move by Liverpool. If he can get fit by the end of next season then they'll get some money back on him.

Strange one for Marseille though.

Wow i expected him to still be at Liverpool after his injury.

I wonder why Marseille took him.

Maybe Liverpool think that he will recouperate better in France closer to his friends and family. At least when he comes back to Liverpool he'll be better prepared for the Premiership. Could be a blessing in disguise.
