Four big clubs tracking Nak

Shunsuke Nakamura's legal representative claims the Celtic midfielder is attracting interest from some big-name clubs.

The Japan international played a major role in helping the Hoops retain their SPL title last season and received the Scottish PFA's player of the year award for 2007, along with three other honours.

But Nakamura, who committed his future to the Glasgow giants last year when he penned an extension to his current contract to keep him at Parkhead until 2009, is believed to be unhappy with the deal.

The 29-year-old is reportedly annoyed that he is earning less than players like Thomas Gravesen, who was on the fringes of Gordon Strachan's first team last term.

And his lawyer Angelo Massoni is examining Nakamura Celtic contract to see if an escape clause exists which would allow him to leave for a fee in the region of £1million.

Massoni told the Scottish Daily Mail: "I have spoken with [Nakamura's agent] Roberto Takudo about this and we want to meet with Celtic next week.

"We have four of the biggest clubs in world football interested in Nakamura and willing to pay big money. We will recommend these offers to Celtic.

"Obviously, if Celtic want to make a better offer, that is up to the club.

"We cannot name the clubs interested from the other countries until we have informed the club first."

However, the Bhoys have insisted that Nakamura will remain at Parkhead next season as the playmaker has not informed them of his desire to leave, although they declined to reject reports he has a £1million get-out clause.

A club spokesperson said a statement: "Celtic have a contract with Nakamura for next year and the option for a further year.

"We have been give no indication he wishes to leave the club."

Pressed on whether the £1million clause exists, Celtic refused to offer further comment.
