Manchester City Of Fire, Sign Elano Next

Manchester City have been in news for all the right reasons today, and have just completed their third signing of the day in the form of Brazilian international Elano

Elano completes a £8million move from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk, in what takes Sven-Goran Eriksson's spending over the £20 million mark inside 24 hours.

The midfielder has been a regular with Brazil under Dunga, and was a part of the team that won the Copa America last month.

City are understandably delighted at their hard work bearing fruit, with defenders Javi Garrido (Real Sociedad) and Vedran Corluka (Dinamo Zagreb).

"This morning has proved to be an immensely productive one, the outcome of which is the acquisition of three top quality players for Manchester City Football Club," said City chief executive, Alistair Mackintosh.

"This has been achieved as a result of some tremendous team work and I would like to praise everyone involved for their efforts.

"I would particularly like to thank Dr Thaksin [Shinawatra, City owner] without whom today's signings would not have been possible."

Eriksson's had already landed Rolando Bianchi, Martin Petrov, Gelson Fernandes and Geovanni in the last few weeks, while Fiorentina striker Valeri Bojinov is also believed to be on the way.

Could this be the begining of something special at the Eastlands club?
