The only weakness of the team at the moment is their manager but bearing that in mind I think I could manage Lyon to victory

could be worse they could have sven or mclaten at least houllier (or inspecter clusoe whichever you prefer) knows the french transfer market and seems to have made good signings on a consistent basis as wella smoving players on for top dollar

Maybe Lyon won't have it all their own way this season

They went down 1-0 at Toulouse yesterday to a 90th minute Elmander goal , the French Champions did play most of the game with 10 men however after Kim Karlstrom was sent off on 34 mins

Elsewhere Bordeaux recorded their 2nd win under new coach Laurent Blanc with a 2-0 victory at Auxerre , a De Melo hatrick gave Le Mans a 3-1 win at Sochaux & Nancy also made it 2 from 2 with a with a 1-0 home win over Caen

Olympic Marseille played out a second 0-0 draw at home to Rennes and are yet to score a goal this season

Le Mans are the early pace setters in France , a 2-1 win over Laurent Blanc's Bordeuax left them top of the table with 3 wins from 3

PSG went down 3-1 at home to Lorient last night & Marseille also lost 2-1 at Valenciennes

Nancy can join Le Mans at the top if they beat Nice tonight

Nancy beat Nice 2-1 last night to join Le Mans at the top of the table with 3 wins from 3

Only 3 games into the season I know but here's the top 5 , it has an unusual look to it

1st Le Mans 9pts, 2nd Nancy 9 , 3rd Lorient 7, 4th Bordeaux 6 ,5th Valenceinnes 6.

Lyon are currently 11th but they have only played twice.

Man Utd aren't the only champions in trouble , Lyon lost for the 2nd week running going down 2-1 at Lorient a result that leaves them in 12th place & 7 points behind the leaders.

The result also moved Lorient joint top on 10 points after previous leaders Le Mans & Nancy both drew

Marseille & PSG are both without a win after 4 games , Marseille drew 2-2 with Nancy whilst PSG drew 0-0 with bottom club Metz.

Top of the table

1st Nancy 10 pts, 2nd Le Mans 10, 3rd Lorient 10 , 4th Monaco 7, 5th Strasbourg 7, 6th Bordeaux 7, 7th Valenceinnes 7

Early days but maybe we will see new champions in France this season , I hope so I don't think it's healthy for one team to win 7 straight titles

I've never seen him tbh , I think he is a left winger , he's supposed to be pretty handy I think he would definately have been in the starting 11 , so it was a blow him getting injured.

As for Dyer I heard he played well at Birmingham , see how long he lasts before he's injured as well

5 weeks into the season in France & the Nancy boys continue to set the pace , they beat Auxerre 4-1 to move 2 points clear of Lorient who drew 2-2 with Bordeaux , Le Mans dropped out of the top 5 after their 2nd consecutive defeat 3-1 at Monaco.

Lyon got their season back on track with a 1-0 win over local rivals St Etienne

An almost full league program in France last night , saw leaders Nancy who didn't play joined at the top by Monaco & Valenciennes.

Of the 7 games played last night 6 finished in away wins with Rennes ,PSG , Monaco ,Nice , Bordeaux & Lyon all winning away only St Etienne bucked the trend beating Strasbourg 2-0 at home

Normal service appears to have resumed in France as Lyon put their bad start behind them with a 5-1 away win at Metz to move 2nd , leaders Nancy slipped to their first defeat of the season 1-0 at Lens

Elsewhere PSG secured their first win of the season running out 2-1 winners at Monaco

Top of the table
1st Nancy 16 pts, 2nd Lyon 15, 3rd Bordeaux 15, 4th Rennes 15, 5th Valenciennes 14
