winter break

who's in favour of a winter break?
should boxing day football be scrapped? that for 1 is just crazy. most folks want to be with family etc....or recover from hangovers. look at the attendances at that period

I agree. But how due you deal with the fixture congestion it would cause?

less fixtures. there are too many games anyway. u can have too much of a good thing. more games means more mediocre, boring, meaningless games

I think less fixtures would be a good idea in the EPL but I don't think the teams would ever agree to it
Say they decided to cut the amount of teams to 18 that would mean relegating 5 teams or only promoting 1 both of which would be unacceptable to most clubs as it would lessen their chances of getting into and/ or staying in the league.

As far as I can see it would mean ripping apart some of our footballing traditon such as the boxing day and new year games (which I think would be too lucrative to remove anyway) and alos the first round of the FA Cup and the latter stages of the Carling.

You can't really change the start or end dates of the season either. Didn't one of the European competitions start it's qualifing in july. If the season doesn't finish til the end of May wouldn't that mean a couple of weeks of before pre-season training?

winter break

Great idea especially if it was for 2 weeks in January every year?

As has already been said; start the season one week earlier and or finish the season one week latter than at present to fit in the winter break!
