pele did score over 1000 goals but where did he play.. the answer is nowhere.. he would not have scored that many in euroupe with defenders that we have over here but in america where they r like the english 2 div he did... im not saying that he was not 1 of the best ever but he never proved it in the big time.. and b4 any1 says what about the world cup ronaldo has scored more...he is not even in the top 5 all time world cup scores and maybe even worst im not to sure but his has never scored more than 5 goals in any world cup.. with the most any 1 ever scored is 13 in 1 com and that is a french man

yes he may have done why do you think pele stayed in america, perhaps because when he was playing there wasn't the money in the game to pay the massive transfer fee that he would have cost, when you think about it it wsasn't till the late seventies that the first million pound player was brought, so i think that is a bit poor arguement esp when until recently brazils philosophy was you score 4 we'll score 5

there was money in the game, but it was at NY Cosmos, funded by Warner Communications. there was money to pay Pele $2M a year, plus Chinaglia, Carlos Alberto and Beckenbauer weren't exactly cheap.

i don't think he stayed there deliberately, but was he ever linked to a move to europe, if the answer is no why not as he was the best player around at that time.

he had too good a life in the USA. he was a superstar, living a glamorous lifestyle. he was going to retire from Brazilian club football, when he got the offer to be paid several million dollars to go and play in the states. it was a retirement league for him, since he was coming to the end of his playing days.

i think it is probably ronaldo from brazil in his prime. if not for the injury that he had....now he is one the legend of world football. i still remember during 2006 world cup, scolari said that ronaldo will not be as good as he was in the past because of the injury. he maybe can be 70% as good as in the past but at 70%,he still can be the best striker in the world because he is such a talent.and i think scolari is damned right......now he still produce some wonderful stuff...scoring goals out of nothing

Why do so many people use ronaldo's injuries as an excuse as i have prob mentioned shearer had two career threatening knee injuries and had life threatening meningitis but thats never mentioned because he is a legend, frankly i'm sick of people saying yeah but ronaldo had a knee injury big deal

come one....alan shearear never won the champions league or world cup or world player of the year award in his life...ronaldo has won twice the world cup and champions league and 3 times world player of the year award...he can score goals out of nothing while alan shearer is just an old fashion british centre forward..yeah...shearer scores goals but so do nistelrooy, andy cole or even michael owen...but what distinguish ronaldo from the rest of the stikers is because he can score goals out of nothing while others need services from other to score goals.

alan shearer is the premiership all-time goal scorer just because he started his career in premiership.if nistelrooy or tezequet started their career in premier league, they too can also surplus the goal-scoring record of alan shearer..nothing special but ronaldo is special.

ronaldo is special because people make excuses for him, and obviously ronaldo has never played with any other creative player like maybe the brazillian national team, zidane, kaka, figo, so thatt arguement is rubbish all his career he has been surrounded by better players. he was good and i'm not disputing that but he's not great, romario was a great stiker and is better than ronaldo, eto is better than ronaldo. owen is better than ronaldo in fact there are so mant better stikers than ronaldo it's untrue, and hasn't kanu won the champs league with ajax and he isn't in the list

then i have to say that alan shearer has himself to blame by not joinning man utd but newcastle. cantona, andy cole, solsjkaer, yorke, sheringham, nistelrooy and now rooney are one of the top striker in their era because there are surrounded by great players who provide them services to score lot of goals.

maybe if shearer join man utd, he has a very good chance to win world player of the year and of course a lot more trophies to his name.unfortunately he join newcastle. maybe he won a lot of relegation battle than anything else. if i am him, i must be damn regret because he might be the greatest striker of all time in europe if he join man utd instead of newcastle.

I think when Shearer left Blackburn he wanted to go to Man Utd , but Blackburn refused to sell him to the team who were their main title rivals at the time.

Similar to the Heinze situation now with United refusing to sell him to Liverpool.

The boys of NYPD choir still singing Galway Bay.

Ronaldo is the best striker dont compare him to players like Owen who cant even score half as much goals as their appearances whilst Ronaldo maintains to score 80% of the time!

no...it is alan shearer who choose to join newscastle at that time because after retired, people always asked him whether you regret or not for choosing newscastle rather than man utd.he answer no but i think he is lying.
