What's wrong with football?

I'm a journalist at FRONT Magazine, we are writing a feature called: "What's wrong with football" and we want to have fans of the game to give us their opinion. It can be anything that annoys you, so just get back to me with answers when you can. If you want to leave a name or picture, we'll put it in the mag. Cheers all.

Thanks for replying aisuru, why do you say that by the way and what team do you support?

corprate buisnessman, television, media, and now footballers, they used to be working class with a down to earth character that fans loved,as we were one of them, but now they are all spoilt middle class cheats and divers, with a major brass neck, and loving it" they are nothing like us now, then again,50% of fans are the prawn sandwich brigade too now!
the game is on the road to ruin, when it will be exclusive members only, hence the progression of fans at junior level ! football is dead, its just nobody can see it yet! its a buisness thats all,a cold hard buisness, where the sheep baa every week! rich sheep!

you know the rules!

football has become too money-focussed. few players play for the jersey any more, with most of the squads of the biggest teams around made up of journeymen. pay packets are more important that representing the team and the fans. sponsorship deals and tv-rights are a bigger draw for clubs than the glory of winning a title or trophy.

journalism also played it's part in the corruption, however. the sensationalist, sleaze-mongering started back in the 60's and went into overdrive in the 1970s. anything to sell papers will be blown up and smeared across the front of the sunday papers. we never hear any positive stories. nothing about how big players visit sick kids in hospitals, buy minibuses for charities... but as soon as they cheat on their wives it's plastered on the front of some gutter rag like the sun. players' private lives being brought onto the pitch is bad enough, of course, but then there's all the usual tabloid tricks of building up players only to knock them down when it suits the papers.

[/rant]

as for who i support... the mighty Jags! the Harry Wraggs! the Maryhill Magyars!

<< i thought the badge would give it away?

[edit] i agree with the teddy bear as well. the 'prawn sandwich brigade' that sit in executive boxes and drink champagne, while the average fan pays £20+ to sit in the wind and rain with some twat nearby shouting absolute pish all through the game. funny how Gretna had really low attendances before they were bought over and got a huge cash injection. all Mileson's glory-hunting pals flock down there now, to see the team buy success week after week.

The problem with football is that it is all money based. Look at Chelsea for example, they were really struggling and then Roman Abramovich bought them and look at the team now. Second in the premiership and can arguably boast the best club side in the world. Look at West Ham now, Some Millionaire bought them and they have bought 3 players in the transfer market! Real Madrid have unlimited cash and they can sign anyone who is in form, I take you to Fernado Gago, Higuan. They are tempted to sign C. Ronaldo from Manchester United. It is stupid.

What's wrong with football?

Money and the unequal distribution of it which makes results more predictable and boring as the richest teams buy the best players and win most of the time.

Football needs unpredictable results either wise it will becoming boring wither away loosing support and some people's interest.

And thats exactly why every honest football fan loves Henry because he doesent dive, he remains loyal to Arsenal even though he could easily leave and get paid 50000000000000000 times more than he does at Arsenal but he stays even if his team dont win nothing and he doesent play that much cause he wants to let the kids grow and look after the future of his club Arsenal thats a true football star he also visits sick people that are about to die they showed it on SBS and he lets them come to Emirates stadium to kick back with all the Arsenal team
Alot like John Terry of Chelsea

wtf are you on about?

didn't you see that little twat in the world cup last year? he dove numerous times for France.

also, many many footballers visit sick kids in hospital, you just hardly ever hear about it - partly because most of them don't make a big deal about it in order to look good on TV, but mainly because it doesn't sell as many papers as them being alcoholics, wife beaters or love rats. Gazza has done loads of work for charity over the years, bought several minibuses for hospices, taken part in dozens of fundraiser events... but he only makes the papers when he f***s up. don't go thinking Henry is a saint because you've heard about one thing he's done. just means his agent was on the ball and organised a camera crew to be there.

What's wrong with football?

People with no knowledge of football talking about the game as if they do have knowledge and making idiots of themselves. If you don't know football hold your hands up. I'm all for everyone having an opinion just don't try and blag it.

I don't know rugby, all I watch is the internationals, I have an opinion but concede it's not a particularly knowledgeable or informed one. I wish some people that claimed to be football fans did the same. (ps, watching the Cup Final each year does not make you a football fan in the same way that watching the Grand National does not make me a racing fan).
