Tough ties for British sides

Chelsea face a rematch against Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League.

The sides met at the same stage of last season's competition, with Jose Mourinho's side emerging triumphant over the two legs.

Mourinho was forced to serve a two-match touchline ban after he accused Barca coach Frank Rijkaard of meeting with referee Anders Frisk in the official's dressing room at half-time of the first leg at the Nou Camp.

Arsenal will face Real Madrid in their last 16 tie, with the first leg to be played at the Bernabeu.

It means an English match-up for David Beckham and co, while Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, recently linked with the coaching job at Real, will be able to give them a first-hand glimpse of his tactical nous.

European champions Liverpool will face Benfica, conquerors of Manchester United, in the last 16.

The Lisbon side beat the Red Devils 2-1 in their final group match, a result which meant United failed to even finish third and qualify for the UEFA Cup.

The first leg will be played at the Stadium of Light in the Portuguese capital.

Rangers have been paired with Villarreal in the last 16 of the Champions League.

The Light Blues will play the first leg at Ibrox before travelling to Spain for the return game.

Rangers progressed beyond the group stages when they finished second behind Inter Milan in Group H.

But Villarreal qualified ahead of Manchester United in Group D.

Rangers have never played Villarreal in European competition before.

However, the Spaniards knocked Celtic out of the UEFA Cup at the quarter-final stage in 2004.

Villarreal also beat Everton in the final qualifying round of the Champions League this season to claim their place in the group stages.

The draw for the UEFA Champions League First Knock-Out Round is as follows:

Chelsea v Barcelona

Real Madrid v Arsenal

Werder Bremen v Juventus

Bayern Munich v AC Milan

PSV v Lyon

Ajax v Inter Milan

Benfica v Liverpool

Rangersv Villarreal

Definetly some nice games, really good draw for matches though.

Ajax vs Inter will be a hell of a game, beside the obvious big one.

Chelsea vs Barcelona!

Only thing that conerns me will be the lack of excitement after the first round, am not saying it wont be good but with atleast 2 or 3 amazing sides potentially going out it just takes the sting out abit for the future rounds
