Too many games?

are there too many games in British club football.
is the number of games detrimental to the quality of football played?

definately, but is not about quality of football at the moment it is money and who can make the most [or who can attract a Russian billionaire who just happens to love football and the English premiership]

quite agree. the quality of the product has been diluted by the quantity.there isn't a close season anymore. now there just seems to be wall to wall football and it's getting boring. give the players a rest and we might get better football. give the fans a rest and we'll look foward to our football more. can't beat the old pre-season withdrawals.

The trouble is if you have less league games the ticket prices will rise to keep the same revenue and as for less games well the top sides will play in more tournaments or the championsleague will get bigger still and so the amount of matches will stay the same.

If there are less games actual profit from the games will increase if ticket prices increase. Your overheads are reduced [less games] while the drop in revenue can be clawed back by raising the prices to offer a better product. In theory anyway.

What I can see will be happening in the next 5 years is the start of a proper Euro league. It is the only way to increase revenue for the top sides. However, for this to happen the top clubs in UK must play less domestic football.

I don't know how you could feasibly get less games without scrapping something like the leauge cup

never mind the economics for a sec. do u feel there are too many games? r u happy watching football for almost 11 months. do u think the quality is good.
i'm sure if the powers that be realise that their market (i.e THE FANS) are unhappy with the product, then they will soon listen. Even the great Platini chose Juventus and Italy over the English league (despite knowing nothing about them) because Italy had a smaller fixture list.

I enjoy watching football all year round, whether it is the World Cup, Euro championship or domestic competition. In Scotland we need a break after Christmas and at least a 6 week break in the summer.

I don't think that you could honestly say that the quality would be better if you played less games, in fact it could decrease.

I would be in favour of keeping my team out of all cup competitions if it meant they played in a European league and made football more interesting.

as a fan, i can't say there is too much football. I just love to watch it. I hope football matches all over the world can get live broadcast, even football in Asia and Africa.
